The Spencer Solar is a 3.4 MW utility-scale solar PV generation facility located in Spencer, Massachusetts. The generation facility interconnects to Massachusetts Electric Company, providing enough electricity to power more than 1,500 homes. In developing the Spencer project, Sunpin Solar worked with community leaders to receive approval from both zoning and environmental boards, leading the way towards sustainability with a project that local residents could get behind

Scope of Project

The Spencer project has received a SMART Program 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). The SMART Program is a long-term sustainable solar incentive program sponsored by Eversource, National Grid, and Unitil. SMART will encourage the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology by supporting 1,600 MW of new solar generating capacity. The economic benefits of this project include:

A 20-year PPA ensures long-term revenue certainty, stabilizing financial returns over time.
The 1.6 GW solar program will meet 10% of Massachusetts' electric demand, saving ratepayers $4.7 billion.
Participation in a program incentivizes both clean energy storage and generation, promoting sustainable energy solutions.
